If you’re a critic make sure you have your facts right

A review by Adam Mars-Jones of Howard’s book that accompanies the series, The Story Of Music, where he’s rather sniffy about the programmes. He then cites an earlier series I made with Howard saying the thematic approach to music we used better suited television than the historical one taken by the current series. The only problem being he cites the wrong series – he calls it ‘Big Bangs’ yet the programme referred to in the article – ‘Bass’ – was part of a series called ‘How Music Works’. It’s so easy to check this stuff that it comes across as arrogant and lazy to let these basic errors slip through.
