Bunkers, Brutalism and Bloodymindedness – Concrete Poetry by Jonathan Meades – Part 1

Bunkers, Brutalism and Bloodymindedness – Concrete Poetry by Jonathan Meades – Part 1 from Francis Hanly on Vimeo.

Part 1 of a two hour epic on the power and beauty of Brutalist architecture. Written by Jonathan Meades it takes in Victorian Gothic, World War Two Bunkers and ‘primitive’ Art. This sequence was shot outside a Peugeot Scooter showroom in a backstreet in Marseilles. It happened to have an Easter Island Statue outside it – not a real one – the owner just fancied a replica. Seemed like a good place to do a short sequence.
